Nancy Solomon began her legal career as a law clerk to the Honorable Ronald S.W. Lew of the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California. After clerking, she worked as a labor and employment litigator at O’Melveny & Myers LLP. At O’Melveny, she represented clients in diverse fields, from aerospace to entertainment, in all aspects of employment litigation, including counseling in matters of discrimination, harassment, and wage and hour law. She also conducted employee training sessions, wrote and reviewed contracts, and negotiated settlements and release agreements.
After working at O’Melveny, Nancy served as the Senior Staff Attorney of the California Women’s Law Center. In this position, she litigated cases addressing systemic discrimination, and counseled practitioners, policymakers, and advocates on California and Federal employment laws. She also appeared on radio, television, and in newsprint as a legal expert on sex discrimination laws. Nancy strategized with national and state legal advocacy organizations to develop and influence legislation and case law, and wrote policy briefs, articles, and amicus curiae briefs.
Building upon her experience in the field of discrimination and harassment, Nancy developed and taught a law course on sex discrimination in education, serving as an adjunct Law Professor for two semesters at Loyola Law School in Los Angeles.
Prior to founding her law practice, Nancy served for almost four years as the General Counsel to the Jewish Federation Council of Greater Los Angeles. In this position, Nancy advised executive staff of this multi-million dollar non-profit corporation on all legal matters including labor and employment, tax, and non-profit corporate governance law. She also evaluated risk-management factors and instituted proactive personnel and management policies to reduce risk, and trained staff on how to comply with anti-discrimination laws. Nancy was also instrumental in the organization’s labor negotiations and administration of its union contract.
Nancy served for four years as one of nine members of the Los Angeles County Equity Oversight Panel, a position appointed by the County Board of Supervisors. As a Panel Member, Nancy reviewed employee complaints and approximately 300 internal County investigations annually, providing guidance and oversight of internal County investigators. She also sat on a tribunal of Panel Members to advise department supervisors on appropriate responses to employee complaints and risk management.
In August 2008, Nancy founded Solomon Law, APC, specializing in employment law. Her practice includes advising companies and high-level executives, conducting independent employment investigations, and providing sexual harassment training to companies and Boards of Directors. Firm clients include for-profit companies, non-profits and foundations, as well as many prominent entertainment organizations, including the Producer Guild of America, Endeavor, and SAG-AFTRA.
Since 2012, Nancy has served as a Panel Mediator on the US District Court’s Alternative Dispute Resolution Program, assisting federal litigants to resolve matters.
Nancy graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of California Hastings College of the Law, where she served as the Senior Articles Editor of the Hastings Law Journal and was admitted to the Order of the Coif. Nancy earned her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from UCLA, graduating Magna Cum Laude.
Nancy is admitted to practice law in California and is admitted to several Federal District Courts throughout the state.
